Hospice of Siouxland volunteer program offers many opportunities to become involved and give of your time. Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice program and make a difference the care provided to patients and families. In 2000, Hospice of Siouxland volunteers contributed almost 9000 hours of service.

Patient and Family Volunteers

Hospice of Siouxland volunteers are caring, compassionate people who help make a difficult situation a little easier. These volunteers work with Hospice patients and their families as members of the direct care team. Volunteer team members are individuals who offer their time because they care and want to make a difference.

Volunteer Activities

  • Providing companionship and support for a patient and/or family
  • Staying with the patient to allow caregiver relief
  • Providing assistance with home chores, shopping or errands
  • Providing child care
  • Visiting family members to offer grief support after the loss of their loved one

Program Support Volunteers

Some people choose to provide volunteer support with office related activities.

Program Support Volunteer Activities

  • Office assistance-typing, filing, sorting and preparation for mailings
  • Couriers deliver medications, small equipment, or medical supplies to patient homes
